Doreen Lelia Still Roden passed away Dec. 1, 2016 at her daughter's home in Paso Robles. A fourth generation rancher/farmer in the Cholame area, she had tremendous pride in the history of her family and the history of the community. An avid quilter, through the years she loved making quilts and receiving blankets for family and friends. Nothing surpassed the love for her family and friends whom she adored and were the center of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Eleanor (Twisselman) Still and her husband of 61 years, Billy Ray Roden. She is survived by her son, Billy Roden and his wife Karen (Moore); daughter, Sharon Roden, and her wife, Dana (Bartlett); grandson, Mathew Roden and his wife Jennifer (VanHorn); granddaughter, Christina Roden Borchard and husband Jason; great grandsons, Charlie, Calvin, and Daniel Roden, and great granddaughter, Abigail Borchard. Doreen is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bob Roden and his wife Carolyn and their two daughters, Chrissie and Tracey. A special thank you to her family, friends, and caregivers who brightened her spirits with their visits and made her feel safe and loved.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Doreen's name to either the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum or the El Paso de Robles Historical Society.
There will be a private interment at Shandon Cemetery. A Celebration of Life with her family and friends will be held at the Paso Robles Golf Club on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at 12 noon. Arrangements under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, Paso Robles, CA.
