Bill B Wheeler of San Miguel, CA passed away on March 31, 2017. He was 71. Bill was born on July 9, 1945 in Hollywood, California to Alvin and Gertrude Wheeler. He was a graduate of University High School. After high school graduation, Bill joined the United States Navy and became part of the UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) from 1964 to 1970. After his military service, Bill attended Los Angeles Valley College and was a diving instructor. He then transferred to California State University, Northridge where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Bill married Sue Iarussi on December 24, 1979, Granada Hills, CA. Bill was a very successful businessman. He started out as co-owner of a donut shop with his long-time friend, Ron Sutherlin in Northridge, California. After he sold the donut shop, he became the owner of an auto body shop in Chatsworth, California. Bill was extremely interested in the production and distribution of wine. Bill and Ron partnered again along with his wife, Sue and discovered an opportunity for their interest in the wine business in Atlanta, Georgia. After relocating to the area, they soon began distribution of wine in Georgia. In his later life, Bill was successful at constructing several homes in the Paso Robles area including his ranch in Lowes Canyon, San Miguel. His love for adventure and the outdoors was infectious. He was an avid bicycle rider and swimmer. He so enjoyed the wine making industry that he wrote reviews for local restaurants in the San Luis Obispo county area. Bill also enjoyed spending time with his friends cooking over the bar-b-que with his favorite bottle of wine. He will be greatly missed by those who touched his life and were fortunate to have known such an energized, caring, and devoted friend. A celebration dinner is being planned by family and friends.
