Zada “Susie” Briggs Donnell passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018 at the age of 86. She was the daughter to the late George E. Briggs and Mary K. Briggs in Pecos, Texas. She had one brother, George Briggs. She spent her childhood in Barstow, Texas where she attended Barstow High School. On August 27, 1949, she married her sweetheart, Jack Donnell. They moved to Pasadena where they raised two daughters, Lynda Donnell Kane and Deborah Donnell McCain. She later became an elementary school secretary in Pasadena Independent School District where she worked at both Kruse Elementary and Jessup Elementary. She later retired and cared for her three grandchildren, Michael Henry, Bryan Henry and Madelyn Chambers. She was a devout and active member of First Christian Church in Pasadena, Texas. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority where she enjoyed socializing with friends and servicing the community. She loved to play bridge and paint china pieces in her spare time. She spent the last of her days at Orchard Park Assisted Living in Manvel, Texas where she met and loved many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, and her loving husband, Jack R. Donnell. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda A. Donnell Kane and her son-in law, Mark Potter; her daughter, Debbie Donnell McCain and her son-in-law, Brad McCain. She was also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Michael Henry, Bryan Henry and Madelyn Chambers.
The family will receive visitors during the visitation on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 with a service celebrating Susie’s life which will be held on Wednesday, February 21st at 12:30 pm at Grand View Funeral Home 8501 Spencer Hwy. Pasadena, Texas 77505. The interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery 21620 Gulf Fwy Webster, Texas 77598.
