William "Bill" Oris Herring Jr.

Bill was born on September 8, 1950, to William O. Herring Sr. and Grace Pauline Wilburn. Graduated from Pasadena High in 1969. He was then drafted into the US Marines and after being honorably discharged in 1971, he joined The Texas-Army National Guard. He attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. He married Barbara Atkins in 1976 and they began raising their two sons in Deer Park, Texas. His family will always remember him to be funny, honest, straight-forward, accepting of all and an all-around good guy, who instilled morals, dignity, respect and above all honesty. Bill was a talented salesmen in the construction industry. He worked at Taylor Waterproofing as a Sales-Estimator and Vice-President until he retired in 2018. He was passionate about his work and made many life-long friends with his co-workers, clients, vendors and competing sales-estimators. Bill’s other passions were a love for his church and Savior Jesus Christ, he always donated generously to organizations that helped active and non-active service members in his country, and his home state of Texas, hunting, fishing, history, gambling, politics, and his dogs, but most all he loved and cherished his beloved wife, Barbara Herring.

He leaves as his legacy two sons, Ryan Herring and wife-Gloria, Christopher Rife and wife Jennifer, daughter –in- love, Amy Martinez; also his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Stice, Jonathan Martinez, Brandon Rife, Bailee Burke, Marissa Burke, Geneis Rife; great-grandchild, Delilah Martinez; sister, Sandra Herring Guerrant; brother-in-law, Charles “Cotton” Guerrant; brother, Alex Gordon Herring; sister-in-law, Amber Herring.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 9, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2019 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Grand View Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be, Gordon Bethel, Steve Borden, Gordon Herring, Jonathan Martinez, Brandon Rife and Travis Wilson.
