Wanda Bernice Payne went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 11, 2016, in Pasadena, Texas., at the age of 89. She was born in Iola, Texas, on February 4, 1927 to the late William and Gladys Fitzgibbons. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy Payne; a brother, little William; a sister, Corene Hamilton; her youngest daughter, Glenda Gerac, and 2 great grandchildren, Jessica Smith and Krista West.
Wanda, better known by her middle name, Bernice, leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister, Florene Davis; sister -in-law, Shirley Widner; brother-in -law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Margaret Wheelis; 3 daughters, Judy Hart (Albert); Kathy Adkins (James); Peggy O'Neill (Jeff); 2 sons, Doyle Payne (Sandie), and Larry Payne (Sue); 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 from 6 pm to 8, at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Texas. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016, also at Grandview Funeral Home, followed by interment at adjacent Grand View Memorial Park.
