Victor John Lopez, age 41, of La Porte, Tx passed away on the morning of November 19th 2022. He had only just begun his battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma, but the struggle that his heart couldn't handle is over now. He was born on April 16th, 1981 in Pasadena, Tx a few miles from the family home he would live in for the rest of his life. He was born with severe spina bifida. At the time, doctors didn't believe that Victor would ever walk. He never let his disability affect his spirit. Not only did he learn to walk, he learned to dance! He had to endure dozens of medical procedures throughout his childhood. It never stopped him. He was still able to finish school making up classes at De Walt, La Porte's alternate campus. He really enjoyed his time with the ROTC. Everywhere he went he was well liked and made friends. He graduated from La Porte High School in 2001. His first job after school was working with his brother's band Blue Corner as their sound man. The band played 20 nights a month in and around Houston as well as traveling out of town to play venues in other cities. Anyone who knew him during this time is guaranteed to have at least one good story to tell. Victor took a few semesters of college at San Jacinto College where he also participated in their audio engineering program. In 2016 he started working for Walmart. He absolutely loved his job and the people he worked with. He was a lover of animals. "Vic" also enjoyed collecting things like baseball cards, coins, knives, and gemstones. He was loved by many and had the sweetest and kindest soul.
He was preceded in death by his father Daniel E. Lopez and older brother Robert Daniel Lopez. He is survived by his mother Diana Lopez, siblings Daniel and his wife Darlene, Deanna and her husband Frank, nieces and nephews: Samantha, Kalena, Clayton, Aidan, Gavin, and Logan, great nephews: Roman, Christian, and Alex, as well numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and stepfamily.
The viewing and funeral services will be at Grandview Funeral Home in Pasadena, Tx on Saturday, November 26th. The viewing is from 1-3pm, and his Celebration of Life is at 3pm. Victor's body will be cremated so there will be no burial service. The family plans to host a reception at Tortillas Mexican Restaurant following the funeral service.
The family has set up a go fund me account to help with Victor's funeral costs and medical bills. HTTPS://gofund.me/74d74d9a
