Susan Rae Bates, 63 of Pasadena, Texas was born September 11, 1958 in Clare, Michigan to Stanley and Ruth Ann (Stovall) Struble and passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 15, 2021. She was a beautiful lady who never met a person she didn’t like. She enjoyed being an artist and sewing in her spare time. She read her bible faithfully every day and loved listening to gospel music. Susan gave her all in everything she did by putting her family first and pride in her work.
She enjoyed baking and loved her animals, Duke, Avenue and Rusty. Susan was like a mom to everyone, since every one she met always called her Mom or Mama. She treated people like they were her own kids.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Kenny Bates; her son, Kenny Bates Jr. and Maria Espinoza; Sterling Bates and Paula; Shawn Bates and Ebony, Shannon Bates and Bridgette along with Andrea Smith and Anthony; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Lois Welch and Debra Eberhart.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Ruth Ann Struble.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Bates, Jr., Rafael Pena, Raymond Pena, Richard Pena, Brandon Cavasos and Shannon Bates with Diana Rodriguez, Alfred Small, Kenyon Merchant, Sebastian Rodgers and Sara Welch, Sterling Bates and Shawn Bates serving as honorary pallbearers.
