Sharon (Pickard) Hall was born in Greenville, TX on September 23, 1943. Her parents, Raymond and Aleene moved to Pasadena, Texas when she was 5 years old so that her father could take employment at what was then Diamond Alkali on the Houston Ship Channel. They moved to Deer Park when Sharon was 6 years old so she and her younger sister, Ronda, could attend school in the Deer Park Independent School District. Sharon was in the first class of Deer Park High School to graduate over 100 students.
Following High School, Sharon attended Business College in Baytown. She worked for 10 years for the Deer Park Police Department as a Crossing Guard at Carpenter and Deer Park Elementary. She also held jobs as a hostess at two local Deer Park restaurants and modeled ladies clothing for an upscale clothing store. Later, she was hired to be the Office Manager at a local establishment, Pratt’s Pools, which was in business here for over 15 years and occupied the land which is now the Burger King at the corner of Center and 13th Street. During that time, she managed the business office and a crew of 20 field workers and supervised swimming pool construction, including Mickey Gilley’s pool at his home in Pasadena.
Sharon was a long-time member of the philanthropic sorority, Beta Sigma Phi and was elected Queen and Princess of the organization multiple times. She was also a long-time member of the Red Hat Society. Sharon was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church and the Twigbenders Sunday School Class for over 30 years.
