Ruth Williamson, otherwise known as "Nanny" by her loved ones, passed away on January 12, 2011 in Pasadena, TX at the age of 88. She was born on October 11, 1922 in Lake Charles, LA to the union of Henry Witherwax and Anne Martin-Witherwax. Nanny was an extraordinarily kind-hearted woman. She loved crocheting, talking, cooking, and could never fail to put a smile on someone's face. Nanny was joyful, high-spirited, and filled with the grace of God. Whether it was making blankets for her great grandchildren, or cooking spaghetti for her friends, Nanny never missed out on an opportunity to share God's love. Her determination and strength drove her forward in life, and she set an example to those around her. Nanny lived day by day - a new journey each morning she awoke. Her radiant smile, sparkling blue eyes, and ever loving heart shone bright everywhere she went. Nanny did not only set an example, she created a legacy, a legacy that will forever be shared, generation to generation.
Nanny is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Elton Williamson, Sr. She is survived by 3 children, Bobby Williamson and wife Faye; Sandy Payne; Elton Williamson, Jr. and wife Bonita; 1 sister, Patsy Romero; 1 brother, Buddy Witherwax and wife Mercedes; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. We love you Nanny, and you will forever soar on wings like eagles.
