Ruth Solomon, affectionately known as Mamaw, passed away peacefully in her home in Seabrook, Texas, on June 10, 2024, at the age of 99. Born on July 30, 1924, in Slaton, Texas, to Otis Earl Patterson and Myrtle Zumwalt Patterson, Ruth lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by love, hard work, and family.
Ruth's journey took a significant turn when she married George Solomon, fondly known as Papaw, in 1946. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories until George’s passing in September 1985. She was the beloved mother of George S. Solomon, Steven Solomon, Diana Fairleigh, and Ted Solomon. She also cherished the memory of her son, Danny Solomon, who passed away in 1972. Her family continued to grow as she proudly welcomed 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren into her loving embrace.
Having spent her formative years on a farm, Ruth knew the value of hard work and family bonds. She grew up alongside her living brother Carson Patterson, and her sister Myrtle Buls, and fondly remembered her deceased sister Audrey Eubank and brother Pat Patterson. These early experiences shaped her character and guided her throughout her life.
Ruth, or Mamaw as she was affectionately called by many, was a beacon of love and strength. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the numerous lives she touched with her kindness and warmth. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her love and memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A celebration of life will follow at 10:00 AM at the same location.
