Roy Wood Brower III, a loving father, devoted grandfather, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on June 27, 2023. He was born on March 5, 1946, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Roy Wood Brower Jr. and Ethel Lydia Brower.
Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June, his son, Ryan, and his parents, Roy (affectionately known as Bampa) and Ethel (fondly called Bama).
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa Smith, sons, Mark Brower and his wife Sandy, Rick Brower, and daughter Kelli Isaacks and her husband Robert. Roy's pride and joy were his grandchildren: Amanda Smith, Tyler Smith, Cody Brower, and his fiancée Murren Mills, Blake Brower, and Kamryn York. He was a source of love and guidance in their lives. Roy's sister, Biddy Scharnberg, and her husband Don, his brother Mike Brower and partner Del Linares, his sister Cindy Anderson and her husband John, numerous nieces and nephews, his long-time girlfriend Donna Emswiler, and cousins Carol Steiner and Paul Bursiek, Jr. also survive him.
Roy had a passion for sports his entire life, playing baseball, basketball, and football. He attended Southmore Intermediate and later Pasadena High School, where he demonstrated his skill and leadership as the varsity quarterback, earning the respect and admiration of his teammates and coaches.
After graduating from high school, Roy began working at Hess Terminal and ultimately found his professional home at Comtrol Services in Pasadena, where he ascended to the role of Vice President. Roy concluded his career as an Operations Manager for SGS.
Upon retirement, Roy discovered a new calling as a crossing guard for La Porte ISD. He embraced this role wholeheartedly and became an integral part of the community. Roy's genuine care for the safety and well-being of the students endeared him to all. His warm smile and kind demeanor brightened the lives of those he encountered. Roy found fulfillment in this selfless service, and he continued to protect and guide the children until his final days.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Brower, Rick Brower, Tyler Smith, Cody Brower, Blake Brower, and Robert Isaacks.
Roy will forever be remembered for his love and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find solace in the cherished memories they hold dear.
Roy loved green, and you are invited to wear green to the service in his honor if you are so inclined.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A Celebration of Roy's Life will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
