Ralph was born in Capulin, NM on August 9, 1934, to Albert Clarence Hay and Winnie Mae (Cottrell). He married Dee (Marsh) Hay on September 16, 1955, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Army and dedicated 40 years of his life to Oxy Chemicals before retiring in 1993 as an Instrument Technician.
Throughout his life, Ralph was deeply involved in his community and cherished his memberships in organizations such as the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155, Arabia Shriners, and Scottish Rite. He was an active member of South Main Baptist Church, Pasadena, and contributed significantly to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he served as a Retired Lifetime Committeeman and a Retired Lifetime Director of the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Ralph had a passion for coaching and mentoring youth, coaching youth baseball, recreation football, and basketball. His dedication touched the lives of many young people, leaving an indelible impact on his community.
For the last 45 years, Ralph found joy in cooking chili for charity and was deeply involved with the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI), where he held various offices.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Winnie Hay, his brother Deryle Hay, and sister Alvasyne Hay Pace. He is survived by his loving wife Dee Hay; daughters Dana Plocheck (Cary) and Dianne Foster (Mark); son Doug Hay (DeLynn Shetter); Sherry Hay; five grandchildren Shayla, Erryn, Tatum, Dylan, and Taryn; and nine great-grandchildren Ellah, Levi, Davyn, Mayson, Righlynn, Hudson, Foster, Reed, and Rory and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Ralph will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on June 22, 2024, at Grandview Funeral Home on Spencer Hwy in Pasadena, TX. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the service beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the faculty and staff of The Avenues of Fort Bend and Anchor Home Hospice for their care and compassion for Ralph.
Additionally, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Yari (Jackie) Castillo and the Jose Jaimes Family for the loving care they provided Ralph and Dee while they lived in Pasadena. Their kindness and thoughtful attention made a significant difference in their lives and are deeply appreciated by the entire family.
Rest in peace, Dad (PawPaw). Your presence in our lives brought us immeasurable joy, and your memory will always be cherished in our hearts. You touched so many lives with your kindness, dedication, and love for family and community. Your legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire us all. Though we mourn your passing, we find solace in the countless memories we shared together. Until we meet again, may you find eternal peace.
