Paul “Chris” Wright was born on Monday, December 11, 1961 in Pasadena, Texas to his parents, Paul Clayton Wright and Joyce Marie Wright. At the age of 59 years old, Chris was called home peacefully and comfortably to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning of Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Porter, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones.
Chris is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jessie Luther Easterling and Lillie Frances (Martin) Easterling, his paternal grandparents, Arthur Thomas Wright and Lula Lee “Bunch” Wright, his baby brother, Thomas Luther Wright, his father, Paul Clayton Wright, his unborn grandson, Sweet Baby P, and his beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris is survived by his mother, Joyce Marie (Easterling) Wright of Winnie, TX, his wife and forever sunshine of 38 years, Sandra Dee (Lee) Wright of Pasadena, TX, his daughter, Melissa Ann (Wright) Carroll and husband, Casey Carroll of Porter, Texas, his son, Paul Curtis Wright and fiance, Ashley Martinez of Pasadena, TX, his sisters, Gayle (Wright) Cates and husband, Mickey Cates of Spring Hill, TN, and Leslie (Wright) Hicks and husband, Ben Hicks of Winnie, TX, his granddaughter, Addilynn Faye “Addi Faye Maye Cletus” Wright of Pasadena TX, and his precious nieces, nephews, aunt, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, and beloved friends that were extended family from various places.
Chris was raised by his parents attending Alta Vista Baptist Church; he was a man who loved Jesus from a very young age, and he instilled that love for Christ in his own children as he grew older. Chris was a rambunctious child that loved to make people laugh, make jokes and pull pranks on his sisters… He never really grew out of that. Chris loved, honored and respected his mother and father in almost everything he did. Chris was an example of walking and living his life in Christ: he was compassionate towards others, loving, kind, funny, goofy, silly, smart, talkative, stubborn, sensitive, strong, self-less, wise, so very handsome, he could fix almost anything, and he never EVER met a stranger. Chris would give and do anything to help anyone and everyone out; it didn’t matter who or what it was that was needed. Chris was a hard-working man that loved his family with every ounce of his being.
Chris had many jobs throughout his time on this earth. He did food service delivery, he worked as a Police Officer for Clear Lake Shores and Pasadena ISD, he owned a barbecue trailer and cooked THE BEST brisket, he worked in construction building and renovating buildings, he worked as a Welder for Union Pacific Railroad, he was self-employed as a short and long haul hotshot delivery service, he served as a deacon at the church, and his latest job was as SUPERMAN while he fought his almost 2-year battle against Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
Chris’ favorite titles and jobs on this earth didn’t pay a dime, and he was THE BEST at them. Chris was a husband to his wife, a daddy to his babygirl, and a best buddy to his son. He was a rock to his Momma, a best brother and lifetime friend to his sisters, a funcle to his nieces and nephews, a PawPaw to his grandbaby first. He was a brother from another mother to his best friends, he was a “cuddin” to several, he was a friend and a mentor to many, and he was always just a phone call away- day or night!
Chris’ favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do ALL things through CHRIST who STRENGTHENS me.”, and he not only believed that, he lived it up until his final moments on this earth. He fought a hard battle, endured unimaginable pain and continued to love and spread light through it all. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
A public visitation is scheduled for 1:00pm on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Alta Vista Church on Spencer Hwy in Pasadena, TX. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00pm and will be officiated by Pastor Chuck Lightfoot.
