Patti was raised in Pasadena, Texas and lived her entire life there.
She married long-time friend, Ralph Edwin Mitchell, on August 10, 1991, and they spent 30 loving years together.
For almost her entire career (over 34 years), Patti served as the Office Administrator for the City of Pasadena Fire Department. The Department quickly became a second family to her, and she maintained close relationships with members, even throughout retirement.
She was an active member of Sunset United Methodist Church and loved being a part of the Seekers Sunday School class. She served as an officer in the United Methodist Women organization, and was also an active member of the Church’s Missions Committee, where she worked with the nursing home ministry, was chairman of the International Seafarers Christmas Box project, and participated in other Missions ministries.
She loved exploring flea markets and trade days, searching for antiques and collectibles. She also loved decorating her home and her Sunday School classroom.
“Pitti Pat,” as she was known by her nieces and nephews, loved spending time with family and friends and was the “Fun Aunt” that every child should have.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leroy and Willie B. Hurry, and her nephew, David Lee Dean. Patti is survived by her husband, Ralph Edwin Mitchell, and her sister and brother-in-law, Judith Beatrice and Barry Glen Dean. She is also survived by her nieces Jennifer Michelle Dean, Brandi Patrice Dean, and Sheri Ann Morris, as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Cody Lee Dean, Julian Alexander Dean, and Kellie Marie Morris.
