Patricia(Pat) Jo Hayes earned her wings on March 18, 2023. She departed peacefully to the arms of her Lord and Savior surrounded by family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grammy and great grammy. She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Margaret Brown; her brother Clyde; sisters Ilene (Phil) and Mike. Pat was born in Houston and graduated from LaPorte High School. She was a devoted employee at Shell Oil until her retirement after 40 years of service.
Pat is survived by her husband of 66 years A.D. (Durwood), sons Kevin (Jackie) and Bryan (L.T.). Also, niece Tricia and nephew Frank (Melissa).
Pat loved being a Grammy to Jordan (Grady) and Chad (Kayla). Also a Great Grammy to: Kasen, Tallen, Chamber and Mac.
Pat was a beautiful, kind and loving soul. She made sure you had what you needed always putting others first. Pat loved to cook and welcome guests to her home. She made the best cherry cheesecake and oversaw many arguments on who got the last piece. Her other passion was playing tennis and loved watching her favorite tennis tournament each year, Wimbledon. She loved sports in general especially watching her son’s play and later her grandchildren. Her favorite travel spot with Durwood was Las Vegas to play Blackjack and to watch her favorite entertainers.
Pat’s other favorite pastime was playing bridge with a cherished group of friends spending many nights together. She also loved her friendship get togethers, whether traveling or just hanging out at each other’s home.
Pat’s last few weeks struggles are over, and through her we got a glimpse of heaven. We will miss her smile and loving greetings tremendously. Without a doubt, we can say a job well done!
We’re grateful to the team at Heart to Heart Hospice and her friends and staff at The Wellington.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday April 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
