Queen Olga Lydia Ortega, at the age of 61, has won the race of life, taken her crown, and has now been lovingly welcomed in Heaven by her father, Venancio Garza, son, Daniel Ortega, and grandchild, Daisy Ann, who preceded her departure. Although, we mourn this great loss, we know that she is in a better place – free of heartache and pain.
Olga is grieved by Hipolito (Leo) Ortega, her husband of 43 years, whose marriage was a testament to what God, love, respect, and patience can give us.
She also leaves behind her beloved children, Hipolito Jr Ortega, Maria Flores, Cynthia Cortez, Alex Ortega and her 8 beautiful grandchildren: Samuel, Savannah, Daniel, Isaiah, Zoey, Selena, Daisy, and Grace. Whom she loved, fought and cared so much for. Olga, as a mother and grandmother, was exceptional and extraordinary. In fact, even those of us who were not her children (or even related) – will miss her just as much as if she were our own. She was truly a leading example of what a parent should be for their family – loving, loyal, caring, and brave. They are left with many beautiful memories to be shared for generations to come.
Sweet Olga was a kind and generous woman, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the perfect example of Christ to all who met her. Even as a young worker, beginning at age 12 – she led a life of servitude and humility. Her light was always bright, and she was never selfish with it. Her talents were plenty and she always gave everything all that she had. Her love of community and family was proven time and time again as she loved being able to make beautiful moments happen for everyone. She was wise beyond her years, never judged, and always led with grace. Her love bloomed bigger and more beautiful than any flower she could have ever arranged (and there were a lot) or any centerpiece she could invent (and she was very creative). Her presence in our lives will be easy to miss and hard to ignore. However, from now on, we will take joy in the moments we shared, and in the opportunities, we had to learn from her, because there will never be another like her – we just hope we continue to make her proud.
Until we meet again.
