Michael Lawrence Friedel went to be with his Lord and savior on January 1, 2014 at the age of 63. He was born on July 14, 1950 in Houston, Texas to Lawrence and Jerry Friedel. Mike was a long time resident of Pasadena, and retired from Shell Chemical Plant after 30 years of service. He was an active member of Abundant Life Christian Center, and lived his life dedicated to the Lord. Mike enjoyed camping and working on the farm in Dimebox. He was an amateur radio operator for 40 years and went by the call letters N5SRE. Most of all, Mike loved his family and was a loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed and his memory treasured.
Mike is survived by his parents, Lawrence Friedel and Geraldine “Jerry” Friedel; his loving wife of 43 years, Cheryl Friedel; 4 children, Michael Lynn Friedel, Cheryl Shiree Friedel, Amanda Michelle Friedel-Swader and her husband Mathew, and Laure Valentine Friedel; 4 grandchildren, Robert Edward Groux III, Tyler Nathaniel Friedel, Jayden Phillip Rangel, and Dean Michael Rangel; brothers and sisters, Patricia Schoonmaker and her husband Roy, Douglas Friedel, David Friedel and his wife Linda, Gary Friedel and his wife Andrea; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
