Mary Lou Swafford was born, November 6, 1921, to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Tyson Swafford, in Claude, Texas. She married Wilson Randolph Usrey on July 27, 1940. Mary Lou was a wonderful wife, mother, and servant for the Lord. She worked as a buyer for Sears until retirement. Mrs. Usrey was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas, serving as an elder’s wife for close to 50 years.
Mrs. Usrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilson R. Usrey. When two are together for 70 years the one left behind finds it difficult if not impossible to go on in life.
Survivors include the children from this union; Jerry and Andrea Usrey of San Antonio, Steve and Mary Usrey of San Antonio, and Jim and Peggy Henson of College Station, three sisters, one brother, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks and salute the caretakers that provided loving care for both Wilson and Mary Lou Usrey during their declining days. Those who willingly loved and cared were people from Comfort Keepers, Esperanza, The Fortress, Traditions Home Health, and Traditions Hospice, as well as the friends from Twin City Church of Christ and Southside Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas.
