Marvin H. McDowell

Marvin H. McDowell, 76, of Pasadena, TX passed away on December 25, 2012. He was born on October 27, 1936 in Haywood County, North Carolina to Lorian and Berta McDowell. He is preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Ray McDowell and son M.L. McDowell. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sherry McDowell of Pasadena, TX; sons, K. Ray and wife Vicki McDowell of Orange, TX, Mitchell W. and wife Alice Foreman of Rowlett, TX and James L. McDowell and wife Laura Stevens of Lufkin, TX; daughter, Sherry Janeen Curry-Gooden and husband James Gooden of Pasadena, TX; brothers, Joe Bob and wife Nancy McDowell of Waynesville, NC, Buddy and wife Marilyn McDowell of Canton, NC and Neal and wife Sue McDowell of Killen, AL, sisters, Patricia and husband Lloyd Lowe Akron, OH and Vivian Rhinehart (McKay) of Canton, NC; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Marvin was a master gardener, loved to karaoke, bake pies and was an avid horticulturist. Marvin enjoyed hosting an annual Memorial Day picnic at his home for family and friends. He is and will be dearly missed. Special thanks goes to Mr. and Mrs. Rick Campbell who provided the casket spray and also to Dave Dudley, Nancy Mayhan, Janie Dye, Chris Halsey, Mike Moss, Candy and Aurora Requenez and all of our special friends who were by our side. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parkwood Methodist Church 400 Parkwood Dr. Pasadena, TX 77503. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Grand View Memorial Park.
