On April 13, 2024, God received a loving angel with beautiful blue eyes and an awesome smile into His eternal kingdom. Marlene Marie Praetorius Snider, 86, loving mother of four and adoring wife to her husband Huel Lamar (Marcy) Snider of 67 years endured a long, difficult battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Her family is comforted and celebrates knowing that she is rejoined with her father, mother, and two sisters eternally in heaven.
Marlene was born in Baytown, Texas on February 20, 1938. In her school years, she enjoyed twirling and being drum major at Robert E. Lee High School. She married in 1956, was a homemaker, and then became a working mom. She retired from Lubrizol in 1997. After she retired, she and Marcy moved to their ranch. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing Canasta with her friends, shopping with her sisters, traveling, gardening, and crocheting.
Her faith was extremely important to her; it was the guiding light of her life, and she was honored to be a founding member of St. Thomas-More Catholic Church at Hilltop Lakes.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Hattie and Giles Praetorius, her sister Anna Belle Macey and husband Wallace, and sister Yvonne Heintschel and husband Daniel.
She is survived by her husband Marcy Snider; children Deborah Bridwell (Ross), Marty Snider (Teresa), Mark Snider (Catherine), and Mike Snider (Karen); grandchildren Ryan Snider (Amy), Chad Snider (Amanda), Lindsey Laflamme (Derek), Lia Floyd (Ahmad), Christopher Snider, Allison Snider (Jose), and Abigail Stallmann (Ben); great-grandchildren Aedin, Weston, Ellie, Amelia, Camden, Hunter, Lumi, Holden, and Hudson; and numerous extended family dear to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or St. Thomas-More Catholic Church in Hilltop Lakes, TX.
