Marjorie Ann "Peggy" Richardson, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and cherished member of the Pasadena community, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023. Born on February 27, 1927, in Galveston, Texas to Herman Marwitz Gross and Perthena Sarah Snyder-Gross, She was raised as the youngest of three children with an older brother John Rhodes “Jack” Gross and older sister Eva Marie Gross-Keith.
She was a vibrant soul with an infectious positivity that touched the lives of all who knew her. Peggy graduated from Ball High School and lived in Galveston during the Second World War. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Billy Eugene Richardson also known as “Big Red”, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and companionship. They moved to Pasadena, Texas where they raised four children, Kathleen, Carol, Billy, and Laurie, nurturing each of them with an unwavering devotion that shaped their lives.
Known for her radiant and joyous spirit, Peggy's best traits were her undying optimism and her ability to spread happiness wherever she went. Her melodious voice could effortlessly sing any tune and bring joy to those around her. She was a creative and talented seamstress and her culinary skills could transform any dish solely from taste. Peggy’s empathetic listening skills and her ability to engage in conversation with an open mind surpassed her years. Her nurturing nature made her a pillar of strength for her family and friends.
Marjorie Ann “Peggy” Richardson is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Lambard, Carol Holloway and Laurie Richardson who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Her four grandchildren, Kimberly Cocotos, Shelley Holloway, Beau Holloway, and William Wesley Lambard, along with her seven great-grandchildren, will always hold dear the memories of their beloved matriarch.
Obituary She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Richardson, whose presence she cherished for a lifetime, and her son, Billy Richardson Jr., whose memory remains etched in the hearts of those who knew him. The loss of her grandson, Russ Holloway, was a profound sorrow that she carried with grace.
Although she has now departed, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her warmth and kindness. Peggy will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into the lives of those around her.
Services will be on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10am. Located at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, TX (Sante Fe, TX). In lieu of flowers the family asks to consider a donation towards the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org
