Maria was born on October 28,1933 in Los Indios, Texas to Pablo Guajardo and Maria Inez Treviño de Fernandez. On June 8, 1972 she married Alfonso Zamora Jr. They raised seven sons, Patricio (Maria) Salas, Elroy Salas, Eduardo (Esmeralda) Salas, Norberto (Marisela) Salas, Alberto (Graciela Chavez) Salas, Juan (Leticia) Salas, Luis (Jazmin) Salas and three daughters Perla (Guillermo) Alvarado, Norma Salas, and Angelica (Randy) Tercero. .
Maria had a passion for crafting and baking. She also loved to spend time with family, combining both passions extraordinary crafts, cakes, cookies and memories were created. Also she was the "life of the party" and a tejano music lover she danced the whole night. She was known for her infectious smile, compassionate spirit and witty personality.
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Pablo, and her mother, Maria Inez, and two siblings Roberto and Mauricio. She is survived by her husband Alfonso, her ten children, Patricio, Elroy, Eduardo, Perla, Norberto, Alberto, Juan, Norma, Luis, and Angelica, her five siblings, Antonio (Patsy), Mary (Gustavo), Leo (Delia), Guillermina and Homero, thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 12:00 PM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 816 Park Drive, La Porte, Texas 77571. A committal service will occur Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
Serving as pallbearers are David Alvarado, Luis Salas, II, Eduardo Salas, Jr., Erik Salas, Jose M. Galvan and Oliver Tercero.
