Maria de la Luz Flores de Garcia, 100 & 7 months, passed away Saturday August 22, 2015 in La Porte, TX. She was born in Lodi, TX but was raised in Agualeguas Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilberto Flores of Doctor Coss Nuevo Leon, her parents, Ramon Garcia and Candida de Leon de Garcia de Agualeguas N.L., 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and 3 children: Justina Garcia de Gamboa, Ninfa Garcia de Cantu, Carlos Garcia, Reinaldo Garcia, Ramon Garcia, Francisco Garcia, Maria del Rosario Flores de Chapa, Ricardo Flores, and Gilberto Flores.

She is survived by her children, Maria de la Luz Lopez, Sonia Magda Flores de Alonzo, Julia Flores de Robles, Baldemar Flores, Alejandro Flores, and her 2 sisters Socorro Vidal and Guadalupe Barrera.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to many. Maria enjoyed making necklaces and passing them out in her daily outing at McDonalds where she would go for coffee. She would spend her days reminiscing about her past as a young child. Maria had a great memory that she could recite her first love letter she ever wrote her husband:

Es triste para mí, dirigirte esta carta desde un lugar lejano, donde creo que me es difícil verte, pero solo me conformo con soñarme a tu lado o dándonos caricias de amor, desde que salí de esa tierra querida no he dejado un solo momento de estar pensando en ti y cuando más estoy pensando, se me borran de la mente tus facciones. Quiero que me mandes una fotografía lo más pronto posible, mi visita ésta vez fue muy triste, pero no pierdo las esperas que tarde o temprano nos volvamos a ver, sin más, quien te quiere, te ama ya sabes cómo te llama tu Lucita García de León. Saludos para tus papacitos que pronto también serán los míos.

Maria de la Luz was loved by all and had this amazing laugh that you will never forget. She was fearless, strong and determined woman who was loved by all she met. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. We love you grandma!
