Margaret “Darlene” Palmer Anderson passed away at the age of 90 on August 9, 2020, due to complications of Congestive Heart Failure. She weighed only two pounds when born at home in Stafford, Texas in 1930, to Glenn Palmer and Mildred Florence Littleton Palmer.
Darlene grew up in Galveston, graduating two years early from Ball High School. She worked as an executive secretary for obstetricians who later birthed her three children.
Darlene married Victor Anderson, also of Galveston, and they made their first home in the small community of Hitchcock. When Vic was sent to San Antonio and then onward to Frankfurt, Germany in 1962, Darlene and children traveled along. The family lived together in Germany, from October 1962 until April 1963 when Vic was killed in an industrial accident. At the young age of 32, Darlene moved her family to Pasadena, where she raised her children as a single parent. She worked in real estate sales and later in the athletic department at the University of Houston, and was a long time member of Pasadena’s First United Methodist Church. In retirement, Darlene enjoyed traveling, taking many trips throughout the United States and abroad.
Darlene is preceded in death by husbands, Victor Anderson and Walter Raedeke. She is survived by her brother, Merrell Palmer of Wilmington, NC, son, Mark Anderson of Leander, TX, daughters, Julie Anderson and Laurie Bennett, both of Pasadena, grandchildren, Eric Anderson and Colleen, and Amanda Wheeler and Mark, living in Leander and Pflugerville, respectively, her cherished nephew, James Littleton and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 10-11 AM at Pasadena Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Hayes Grace Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Texas at 3:00 PM.
