Lura Mae Thompson was born on March 2nd, 1932 in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1st, 2020 in Katy, TX. She was the youngest of five children born to Zeb and Clara Reeves. Throughout her life, she grew up in Mississippi and moved to Pasadena, TX in 1965 and later to Katy in 2019. On October 16, 1948 Mae and Claude Thompson were married and remained together in union until his passing in 1999.
Church was a very important part of her life and was a devoted member of Monument Baptist Church in Deer Park, TX. Mae’s proudest moments were the births of her great grandbabies. In her spare time, she loved to crochet, play bingo, and enjoyed socializing with friends. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her sweet, witty, and caring personality, and for sometimes even being a little sassy.
Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Thompson; parents, Clara Reeves and Zeb Reeves Sr.; brothers, Zeb Reeves Jr., Horace Reeves, and Harold Reeves.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Hair; son, Ron Thompson and partner, Leah Bounds; grandchildren, Lori Boyd and Michele Hyden, Jana and Mark Coates, Traci Martin; great grandchildren, Hayden Boyd and Avery, Addyson and Alysse Coates; brother, Billy Reeves; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
