Lawrence Ray Thompson has been granted life eternal on November 1, 2022, while numerous family members were by his side. He was 82 and had dealt with Alzheimer’s disease for years. Though his memory may have been taken, he never lost his joy, his sense of humor, and his love for music! Ray was born August 11, 1940 in Groveton,TX to Floyd and Lucille Thompson. The family moved to Golden Acres in Pasadena,TX when he was 1 year old and lived on Pine Street up until his college years.

Ray was voted most friendly and considered to be a person of high character. After high school, he attended both Texas A&M and Baytown Lee College, each for a year. After his college days, Ray began his long standing career in the pipe fabrication industry as a draftsman. Through diligence and dedication to hard work, he over saw the engineering department and later became part owner of American Pipe Fabrication. In addition to providing and persevering for his family, Ray enjoyed a ballgame or concert, watching his kids and grandkids play or perform. Since he was an outdoorsman, he loved a deer hunting trip or standing by a tank catching fish. Ray was a well rounded individual.
The evidence of his love for the Lord was made known in the way he lived and treated other people, along with how he cared for family and friends. He came to know Christ early and this has been the foundation for his life. He was fully committed to Golden Acres Baptist church from childhood to adulthood. Later in life he served many years at First Baptist Church Pasadena in the same way. He devoted his time as a leader, teacher, director and bus driver for many years, speaking into the lives of countless youth and adults.
