Kenneth Hoyt Platt, 84, of LaPorte, TX passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was born in Marshall, TX on September 4, 1933 to Phillip Wiley Platt and Clara Lee Hensley. He was married to Katherine Ann Platt for 51 years. Kenneth worked as a pipefitter welder and worked around the country through Pipefitter’s Local 211. He proudly served in 2 branches of the Armed Forces, the Army and Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1399 and was also a Shriner. He was a lifetime member of Local 211 and of the VFW. He had a passion for his family, his distillery, making beer and whiskey, gun collecting and loved being a welder. It broke his heart when he had to retire. He was passionate about taking care of his family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Phillip Platt; his loving wife, Katherine Platt; brothers, Frankie, Phillip and Travis Platt; sisters, Doris Greeney and Helen Davis. He is survived by his daughter, Kayla Platt and son-in-law, Jason Richardson; granddaughter, Mikayla Platt-Wheeler; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Kenneth’s Celebration of Life will follow on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment Grand View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Kenneth.
