Born March 18, 1935, in Houston, Texas to Herbert Schwander and Josephine Walk. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesse, of 66 years, two siblings, daughter-in-law, and one grandchild.
Jesse and Juanita pledged their love for one another in a Lutheran church on July 4, 1953. They became members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1954. Juanita was a devoted wife to Jesse until his passing March 16, 2019. Along with Jesse, they provided a loving home for their family.
Juanita was an enthusiast of Sammy Davis Jr. She even kissed his hand at a concert. She was so excited that she said, “I am never washing my hand again.” In following her love for classical music, she was always up for a good western movie with Jesse. They would stay up all night watching Gene Autry, Audie Murphy, and of course John Wayne “The Duke.” She was always hungry for a good catfish dinner from Sudies or a Mexican dinner from Casa Ole.
Juanita is survived by her four children: Jesse M. Scott Jr. and wife Shea, Crystal R. Bennett and husband Steve, Mark E. Scott, and Angela M. West and husband Glenn; 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Regent Care for the loving care and compassion shown for our mother.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM, with a Celebration of Juanita's Life beginning at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
