Joyce Marie Owen

Joyce Marie Owen, 87, longtime resident of Houston and Cut and Shoot, Texas, died Monday, September 25, 2023. Certified Professional Secretary, CPS, she was one of seven women in Texas to obtain this certification in 1977. She was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana, graduated from Istrouma High School and attended LSU. Widowed early in her life, she was blessed with a new family years later. As a breast cancer survivor she worked tirelessly to raise awareness about the importance of annual mammograms and provide support for The Rose, a Texas-based non profit organization for breast cancer. As a member of the PBX Club of Houston, she volunteered with the Muscular Dystrophy and the Burnett Bayland Teenagers Center. Joyce was an avid reader and a dedicated fan of all sports. She loved playing cards and dominos with friends and family. Her work career started with Butler, Miller & Lents Oil and Gas Consultants 1961; Gray Tool Company 1972, and First Financial where she retired in 2011.

Survived by her daughters, Cynthia Lomax Qualia and husband John, Kimberly Lomax Jaeger and husband Will; grandsons Robert W Linder II and wife Nikki, Matthew L Linder, Eric Jaeger, Ryan Jaeger and wife Elinoora, and granddaughter Allison T Linder; great-granddaughter Penny Joyce Linder and Cassady Jaeger; sister Glenny Clemmens Ebanks; and by step-children, step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Violet Clemmens, husband Will Arthur Lomax Jr., husband Robert Nuit Owen, son Will Arthur Lomax III, granddaughter Shelby Jaeger and great-granddaughter Alanna Luengas.

In loving memory of Joyce, we ask family and friends to join us in celebrating her life, Monday October 2, 2023, in the chapel at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, TX 77505. Visitation starts at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Rose, Breast Cancer Center of Excellence.
