Lillie Beatrice Wilkinson, or “Johnnie” as she was known to her close friends and family went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2013 A.D. She was born to Theodore and Alma Johnson in McComb, Mississippi on June 24, 1921. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Alma Johnson, her husband Charles Wilkinson, her daughter Gloria Warriner and, her granddaughter Lisa Harding Gros. Johnnie is survived by her son, Thomas Wilkinson and wife Celeste; her brother Marvin Johnson; her grandson Charles Harding III; great grandchildren, Peyton, Sierra, Jordan Gros and Mason, Hunter, Kade Harding; and niece, Emily Mattox. Johnnie lived to be 91 years of age. She began her life in Mccomb Mississippi where she graduated from high school and later attended nursing school where she met her husband Charles Wilkinson. They married and had two children, Gloria and Thomas. Most of her life was spent in Pasadena, Texas where she was a nurse at Pasadena General Hospital. She also was a crossing guard at Queens Elementary/Intermediate School for many years. She was a remarkable woman. Her garden produced some of the best tomatoes on earth. Johnnie was also an accomplished seamstress and cook. Her main hobby was counting cross-stich needlepoint for which she won many prizes. She enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada going on several bus tours where she made many friends. Her last years were spent at the Waterford Retirement Community in Deer Park, Texas where she leaves behind several very close friends. Her family wishes to thank the staff and friends at Waterford for providing such a caring and nurturing environment. Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5PM to 7PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 12:30PM at Grandview Funeral Home.
