John Luther Ballew Sr.

John Luther Ballew, Sr. went to be with the Lord June 6, 2023 at the age of 83 in his home. He was born to Wiley D. and Fannie B. Ballew on November 5, 1939 in Wanilla, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Kathleen.

John Sr. is survived by his only child John Ballew, Jr. and wife Debbie Ballew, grandchildren John Anthony Ballew and Jessica Ballew Mantell and husband Cory Mantell, and great-granddaughter Luna Violette-Jayde Mantell.

John Sr. graduated from Pasadena High School in 1957. After graduating high school, he went to work for Ford Motor Company and was a volunteer firefighter for the city of South Houston, TX for several years.

He was an avid collector of baseball cards, coins, and model trains. One of his hobbies was making custom leather items for his family and friends.

John Sr. will forever be remembered by his family each time the TV is turned on and Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, a John Wayne movie or any other Western is showing.

A graveside service for John will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
