Jesse was born in Crystal City, Texas on July 23, 1946, to Jesus Maria Lopez and Anita Aguirre. He attended Crystal City High School where he was the Sergeant at Arms for the National Honor Society and was the first Hispanic to win the Fighting Heart Award.
Jesse graduated high school in 1965 and received his Associates from Southwest Texas Junior College in 1969. Jesse served in the Texas and Illinois Army National Guard from 1965-1971 when he was honorably discharged. Jesse worked for Total (and all its buyouts) until 2012, when he retired after 36 years of dedication.
Jesse married his high school sweetheart, and lifelong friend, Herminia (Minnie) Lopez and they had four beautiful children together.
Jesse was a devoted son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Jesse was the man you called on when in need with no doubt he would be there for you.
Jesse was an athletic, intelligent, loyal, generous, and God-fearing man. Jesse was an active member of University Baptist Church where he helped build churches, taught Sunday school, and went on a number of mission trips around the world, but his greatest mission was his family. He loved to be surrounded by his loved one’s reminiscing, singing, praying, guiding, eating, teaching, teasing, and pranking. Jesse will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but we know and hold fast to the promise that one day we will be reunited with him in heaven.
Jesse’s viewing will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505 followed by a funeral Thursday, April 13, 2023,10:00 AM at Grand View Funeral 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. Matthew Savage will officiate.
