Janice Newman, 81, went to be with the Lord on August 2nd, 2023. She was born on May 30, 1942 to James and Retha Lewis in Tallualah, Louisiana. A devoted Christian and longtime member of First Baptist of Pasadena, she was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother known to her grandchildren as Maw-Maw.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Majorie, Anemone, Pressie Lou, Dolores, brother James Warner Jr., husband Joe Newman, son Allan Newman, and grandson Christopher Newman. She is survived by her sister Eve Laird and Brother In-law Bobby Newman.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Lewis Newman and his wife Karen Newman, Michelle Terry, widow of son Allan Newman, grandson Lance Newman and his wife Nadia Newman, granddaughter Leslie Chitwood and her husband Jeff Chitwood, grandson Kevin Casten and his wife Amanda, granddaughter Ashton Newman, grandson Zachary Newman, great grandson Jevan Casten, and great granddaughter Kennedy Chitwood. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and church friends.
Janice loved spending time with her family, quilting, sewing, spending fellowship with her church friends, and singing in the church’s Senior Choir.
Friends are invited for the viewing at 9 AM on Friday, August 11th, the funeral service at 10:00 AM Friday, August 11, 2023, and graveside service at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 11, 2023. All will be held at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena.
Serving as pallbearers are Lance Newman, Kevin Casten, Zachary Newman, Brian Currie, Tommy Januszewicz, and Lloyd Terry.
