Beloved Daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Janet Lee “Punky” Gordon Smith died peacefully in the comfort of her own home on November 26th, 2014 in La Porte, Texas at the age of 60 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Janet was born on January 1st, 1954 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Betty, and Charles Smith. Her father Charles passed, Betty, and Janet re-located to Greens Bayou where Betty later met Howard Maxey, and Betty and Howard wed in 1966. Howard accepted Janet as his own for the remainder of his life.
Janet spent her life enjoying working with people as a professional receptionist. She spent most of her professional career at Furmanite, where she became a friend to many, and remains a close friend to them today. She was the smile that so many enjoyed passing on their way to their office, and hearing her voice on the phone when they called for business.
Janet was forced to retire in 2005 due to medical complications. She spent her last 9 years fighting kidney failure. Although she received a replacement kidney from Ann Link in 2010, it too quit working a few years later, and she became progressively ill. She finally gave up the fight, and decided it was time to go home to her mother, and father.
