James Lyle Dodd

James Lyle (Jim) Dodd, 74, of Pasadena, TX, passed away on December 30, 2019. He was born in Lebanon, MO, on March 7, 1945 to Bill and Mae Dodd. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He married Kathy Pitts Dodd on March 1, 1982. He was the proud father of Jimmy Reese Dodd. Jim spent his career on the water as a tugboat captain. An avid reader, Jim loved to read classic fiction and all things historical, especially military history. He loved music, especially when his son, JR, was playing his guitar. In fact, Jim learned to play harmonica because JR gave it to him. JR and Jim also loved to compete with each other at Xbox. Several of JR’s friends have become close friends of Jim because of his paternal love for them. For the past several years, the highlight of Jim’s year was spending time with his Vietnam brothers and their families. These meetings brought him fulfilment.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, his father-in-law Charles Pitts, and his son JR Dodd.

Jim is survived by his wife Kathy Dodd, his dog Wrecker, his brothers Steve, George, and Harold, his sister Jackie, his mother-in-law Bonetta Pitts, and many Vietnam brothers.
