Herman Loran Young

Herman Loran Young, age 87, of Deer Park, Texas passed away November 13, 2010. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Edna Bailey Young. Son Mark Young and wife Belinda of Houston and daughter Georgine Garbarini and husband Mike of The Woodlands also survive him. Herman leaves four grandsons- Benjamin, Mason and Matthew Young and Tony Garbarini, and one granddaughter- Caroline Young. Herman was preceded in death by grandson Brian Garbarini and brother Marvin Young.

Herman was born December 17, 1922 in Hurst Springs (Coryell County) Texas to the late George and Nora Young. He lived his early years in Mosheim, Texas, and graduated from Mosheim High School. He moved to Houston to find work, and joined the U.S. Army Air Force in November 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He was proud of his time serving our country, and we will miss his stories of Iwo Jima.

Herman was a retired member of the Local 211 Pipefitters Union, and a long time member of Peace Lutheran (previously Sharon Lutheran) church in Pasadena.

Visitation will be at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena from 5:00 to 8:00 PM , Wednesday, November 17, 2010. A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 18, 2010.
