She was married to James R.E. Evans for 40 years. Frances was a seamstress, school cafeteria lunch lady, and devoted nursery worker at First Baptist Church Deer Park. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had a passion for helping people at church and sewing for her friends in need. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James R.E. Evans, her parents T.J. and Pearline Morton, and 3 brothers Alvin, Joe, and Garland Morton and brother in law John Evans.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters Janyth and Chris McNeely, Jamie and Billy Penick, and Julie and Will Goodson, grandchildren Bill Penick and wife Fannie, Jake McNeely and wife Kayla, Jason McNeely and wife Heidi, and Evan and Erin Goodson, and great-grandchildren Reagan and Ryley Penick and Miles and Beau McNeely. She also leaves behind sisters Gertrude Metzler, Marilyn Tippen, and Carol Joyce Johns, and sister-in-laws Alice Morton, Clara Fincher, Midge Murray, Maggie and Robert DeFore, Nelle and Jack Gustafsson, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 3:30PM to 5:00PM with a Celebration of Granny's life beginning at 5:00PM in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. She will be laid to rest Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 926 Head Street, Palestine, Texas 75801.
