Ernesto Perez, a devoted father of twelve, courageous Vietnam War veteran, and proud member of the 101st Airborne Division, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 73. He was surrounded by his loving wife, siblings, kids, & grandkids.
Born in San Antonio on August 7, 1950. He was the son of Martin L Perez & Dionicia H Perez. He grew up on the Westside of San Antonio and attended Kennedy High School. It was during his formative years that he developed a strong sense of duty and patriotism, a character trait that would define his life.
Answering the call to serve his country, He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and was assigned to the renowned 101st Airborne Division. He served with distinction during the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering courage and dedication to his fellow soldiers. Ernesto received an award for meritorious service while participating in aerial flight in support of ground operations while assigned as a rifleman in company D, second battalion of the division’s 502nd infantry.
Upon returning home, he dedicated his life to building a loving family. He was a devoted husband to Pilar H Perez and a cherished father to Laura Perez, Patty Perez, Ernesto Perez Jr. Eric Perez, Rosie Villanueva, Irene Villanueva, Anthony Villanueva, & Jesse Hernandez. Ernesto not only took in his wife’s nieces & nephews, he stepped in to raise his late sons children; Ernesto Perez III, Josh Perez, Andrew Perez, & Anna Perez his beloved grandchildren.
He coached not only his son’s baseball teams, but several grandsons as well. He enjoyed every bit of being out at those ball parks with his family. He loved his classic cars and shared the love of those cars with the whole family.
Ernesto Perez is survived by his loving wife Pilar Perez, children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and loving family.
Visitation and Rosary will be held on 8/12/24 at Grand View Funeral Home from 4:00pm-8:00pm at 8501 Spencer Hwy. Pasadena Tx 77505. Mass will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00am 816 Park Dr. La Porte Tx 77571 Burial to follow mass at Grand View Funeral Home. Military honors will be rendered.
Ernesto H. Perez will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of service, love, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
