Dr. Armando D. Fernandez-Conde, 90, beloved father and grandfather, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, February 23. He was born August 28, 1920 in Baracoa, Cuba, to America and Manuel Fernandez-Conde. He graduated from the University of Havana School of Dentistry in 1950 as an oral surgeon, and established a successful practice in Ciego de Avila, Cuba. In 1970, he and his family were compelled to leave their beloved Cuba, and lived in Spain before finding a home in Pasadena in 1971. Armando was devoted to his family, and was much loved by his family and friends. We will miss you, Pipo. Armando is preceded in death by Dr. Yolanda Viera Fernandez, his wife of more than 50 years; his sister Margarita Carton, and brother Jorge Enrique Fernandez-Conde. He is survived by his two children and spouses: Yolanda and Gayle Hendricks, and Dr. Armando and Damaris Fernandez; sister Dulce Maria Rivero, niece Casta Maria Gonzalez Viera, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5500 Laurel Creek Way in Houston, TX 77017.
