Dalton was a perfect example of what a father should be! He was kind and loving firm and God loving! I came to know the Abshires at the age of three they became my babysitter and friends and family and fifty years later my dearest friends! They have always open their home to me and have watched my children! I loved hearing Dalton's stories and eating his gumbo! I loved coming to visit them and getting his big hug! Dalton and Polly instilled wonderful values in their children and touched everyone's life they came in contact with! And he will be missed! He would want everyone to look after Teresa and Cecil just as he always did! So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

It’s hard to wrap my mind around the idea you are not here on this earth.  I will miss your humor, story telling, and love.   I learned so much from you, knowing what a great father, (man) means, leading your family in Jesus name, supporting your family, standing by your wife, and showing your kids to do the same.  As well having a lot of friends throughout your life.  You lived your life by example.  I take comfort in knowing you are with your LOVE, Aunt Polly and all our family.   I look forward to the day we are all Reunited in the presence of our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus!!!  I love you and will miss you Uncle Dalton.  

Uncle Dalton,  I am going to miss you especially your awesome gumbo. Lol. You were the best cook.  I also, always loved listening to your stories of growing up and when you'd talk French.  I know you and Aunt Polly are having a grand reunion with all our loved ones who have gone before us.  Give my daddy a hug for me when you see him.  I'm so glad you"re no longer in pain.  This picture was from your birthday party. Love you forever.

You are already missed so much Pops! I will always remember your kindness, your funny sense of humor, your cooking, your stories, & most of all- your love for your family, especially Mrs. Polly. Now y’all are finally reunited, what a reunion it must be! 💕

I was so sorry to hear about your Dad.He was the best story teller I've ever met. I will miss his sweet smile. I especially will look back and smile when I hear, Waylon Jennings. Dalton was a bright shining light in this world! His integrity, passion and love for Jesus, his family and friends will always be remembered. 
Although we miss him, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited in Heaven with Polly and they are both dancing on the streets of GOLD!
