Cynthia Jeanne Wheeler was born on February 14, 1958, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021. Cynthia answered to many names: Cyndi, Nene, Mom, Aunt Cynthia & Gran. She grew up in Spring Hill, West Virginia, where at a very early age, she began attending the Church of the Nazarene and was a faithful believer and disciple of Jesus Christ for the rest of her life. As a teenager, she came to visit the Chase family in Texas and couldn’t leave. Texas is where she met the love of her life and lived an incredible love story and built a family. Cyndi was a kind, compassionate, and selfless example to many. Throughout her life, she used her creative gifts to serve God and serve others. Cyndi served as a youth sponsor and church board member at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene for many years and with her husband, welcomed family and friends into her home to love them like her own. The life she lived will continue to serve as a testimony of praise to Jesus Christ. Confident in the strength of her faith, she was welcomed home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Charles (Bill) and Liza Burlingame, four of her five siblings, Charles (Chuck) Burlingame, Linda Burlingame, Anita Hall, and Desta Lanham, and her parents-in-law Ray and Susie Wheeler. She is survived by her devoted and handsome husband of 44 years, Clifford Wheeler; her children, Lori & Marcus Northrup, Kevin & Karina Wheeler, and Casey & Amy Wheeler; her grandchildren Graceson Wayne Wheeler and Mac & Georgia Northrup; and her sister Clarice Teague.
Now that Cyndi has gone to be with the Lord, we can celebrate that she will suffer no longer. All pain is gone. Cyndi left this world to be welcomed by her Lord as a treasured daughter and devoted Gran where she has joined the chorus.
The family will be available for visitation beginning at 2 pm on Saturday, September 4, and a celebration of Cyndi’s life will be held immediately after visitation at 4 pm. Both visitation and memorial service will be at Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene, 3610 Watters Road, Pasadena, Texas.
