Cynthia Diann James

Cynthia Diann James, of La Porte, Texas was born in Baytown, Texas on September 1, 1965, and went to be with the Lord at age 57, on July 3rd of 2023. Diann was married to Jeffrey David James of Deer Park, Texas for nearly 37 years and had one son, Christopher. Diann’s pride and joy were her four grandchildren, Caydee, Jenna, Maddi, and Jax. She cherished her title as Maamaw. While her hobbies included growing a wide variety of plants, cooking, raising butterflies, and most recently tending to her beloved chickens, her family was what she valued most in this world.

Diann was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, coworker, and friend - but most importantly she was a child of God. She showed compassion to those around her and found a way to help others, no matter the need. Diann had the ability to make connections with people from all walks of life and her unique knack for picking up languages always surprised people. She was filled with passion and truly enjoyed life. Whether she was helping her son prepare for lamb shows in his teenage years, teaching him all the words to Vanilla Ice, or singing at the top of her lungs with all of her grandkids in the truck, she danced her way into everyone’s hearts and always knew how to make them laugh. If you were ever embarrassed by Diann with a silly nickname or her doing a little jig in a crowd of people, you knew that she loved you. Her free spirit and humor captivated us all.

Always up for an adventure, Diann could be found parasailing in Alabama, swinging over the snowy mountainside in Colorado, or enjoying the fall foliage in Tennessee. When she wasn’t off on some great adventure you could find Diann enjoying the simpler things in life. She loved sitting on her back porch during rainstorms and driving out to the beach for no other reason than to take a walk near the water. While our hearts are broken that Diann is no longer here with us on Earth, we know that she sits in the presence of God and is helping prepare a place for us there.

A visitation for Cynthia will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
