We are sad to announce the death of our father Clyde Clifton Moody, 89 of Houston, Texas, who after a long battle with cancer, peacefully passed away in his sleep on November 2, 2022, at the home of his daughters in Splendora, Texas.
Clyde was born January 1933 in Calera, Oklahoma to Clyde and Clella Moody. He was the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Calera High School and attended Southeastern University. He joined the United States Army in 1954 and served in the Korean War. After the war, he returned home and married Norma Jean Hoskins.
They began their family in Durant, Oklahoma, then in 1959 with 3 children in tow they moved to Deer Park, TX where Clyde began his successful career with The Southland Corporation. He quickly advanced in his career, had a fourth child and relocated multiple times before settling in Pasadena TX in 1966. Clyde served many years as a Committeemen for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. After 26+ years with The Southland Corporation he left to pursue a second career as a business owner.
He had a strong work ethic, brokered many business deals and was working until weeks before he passed. Clyde lived a full life. He was an outdoorsman, a want-a-be weatherman, gardener, and he never missed an opening deer season. His children and many of his grandchildren share these passions as well. He was highly respected, had numerous friends and was loved by all.
Clyde is survived by his spouse Norma Moody, daughters Debbie (JJ) Cain, Sherrell Thomas and Crystal (Craig) Ellison. Clyde had 15 grandchildren: Scooter (Holly) Cooey, Lauren (Brandon) Loveland, Melissa Duarte, Brandon Moody, MaKayla Moody, Lilah Moody, Ceci (Raul) Sandoval, Brandon Eliud, Michell (Ben) Martinez, Beau Cain, Sean Cain, Elizabeth (Eric) Voss, Taylor (Tiffany) Thomas, Cory Ellison, Cara Ellison. Clyde had 14 great-grandchildren: MaKenzie Smith, Cy Smith, Ellie Cooey, Easton Loveland, Sawyer Loveland, Macree Duarte, Luna Sandoval, Max Martinez, Olivia Voss, Amelia Voss, Hudson Voss Timothy Thomas, Tyler Thomas, and Tessa Thomas.
His daughter-in-law Laura Moody, sister Sherri (Barry)Vickery, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friend Jackie Nguyen.
Clyde was preceded in death by his son James Moody, his mother and father Clyde and Clella Moody, brothers Jerry and Larry Moody and sister Mary Robinson.
The graveside service will be held at Grandview Memorial Park/Bethany, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, Tx 77505, on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 1:00. There will be a reception to follow in the reception room at Grandview Memorial Park/Bethany.
