Charles Henry “Chuck” Hattenbach of Houston, Texas, was born on March 17, 1924 in Louisiana, Missouri, to August and Annie Hattenbach, passed away on April 5, 2018 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Augusta Hattenbach, his daughter, Joyce McCollum, and a grandson, Benard Yates.
“Chuck”, as he was affectionately known by many, is survived by his loving companion Elizabeth Holcombe; his daughter, Cindy Savoie of Houston, Texas; daughter and husband, Becky & Ned Shiflett of Evergreen, Colorado; daughter and husband, Melinda & Dwayne Henneck of Houston Texas; Six grandchildren and Five great grandchildren. In addition, Chuck is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Chuck was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod in Lufkin, Texas for 18 years. He was also a WWII Marine Corp Veteran; proudly serving his country from 1942 – 1944. Chuck was also a member of The American Legion. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and fishing as time allowed. He possessed a tender heart for wildlife and animals, especially his four-legged companions of which he had several during his lifetime; “GG”, “Maggie”, and “Betty” were three of which he was especially fond. Chuck was born on St Patrick’s Day – and usually celebrated accordingly on that special day. He was also a Lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. He was a man of extraordinary character and loved his family dearly.
The family will receive friends at Grand View Funeral Home, on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services honoring Mr. Hattenbach’s life will be at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Grand View Chapel with interment following at Grand View Memorial Park.
