Carl Gene Tolar, 74, passed away on February 2, 2012 with his family by his side at MD Anderson Hospital. He was born August 4, 1937 to Dewey H. and Rosie Lee Tolar of Deer Park, TX where Carl was a lifelong resident of Deer Park. He graduated in 1957 from Deer Park High School where he was voted Most Handsome and played some football. While in high school he worked part-time at the Lubrizol Corp before serving honorably in the US Army for two years. He then went back to Lubrizol Corp where he retired after 40 years of service. He had a passion for playing and teaching others the guitar, more recently woodworking and going to garage sales. He was a devoted family man and friend of many. Carl Tolar is survived by his loving wife, Freda Tolar, of over 40 years; daughters, Debbie Baird (husband Chris Baird) and Cheryl Hartman; brothers, Raymond Tolar and Glenn Tolar; sister, Bettie Armstrong; grandchildren, Crishawn, Tara and Timothy; and the apple of his eye, great granddaughter, Maysie Costa. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey (D.H.) Tolar and John Tolar; sisters, Lela Mae Sypert and Mildred Hill. A memorial service will be held celebrating his life on Saturday, February 11, 2012, 3:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home.
