Betty Lou Maze Hinton of Pasadena joined her husband of 48 years in Heavenly Rest on May 13, 2024, after 92 wonderful years. Betty was born on March 8, 1932, to Archie and Minnie Maze in Hardy, Oklahoma, she was the youngest of 12 siblings, 6 brothers and 5 sisters that all preceded her in death. She graduated from Newkirk, OK High School and moved to Rosenberg, TX to be near her older sister Irmagene. She soon met and married in September 1950 her loving husband, Doyle Hinton.
Soon after marrying Doyle, he joined the US Navy, and she became a Navy wife. This allowed them to see several parts of the USA to include Hawaii, California, Connecticut, Virginia and finally back to Pasadena Texas for retirement. During this time, she and Doyle had 3 children, Doyle Jr., David, and Elizabeth.
Betty and Doyle enjoyed Square Dancing and she continued with Square Dancing after his passing. She Square Danced with several local Square Dance Clubs for over 45 years and was the President of the Pasadena Senior Citizens Square Dance Club at the Jobe Senior Center up until COVID forced them to go on hiatus. If you remember Betty in her Square-Dancing regalia, you will remember that she loved to “Yellow Rock” anytime she saw you. Betty also was an avid Volunteer with various organizations around the Pasadena area and was the “Volunteer of the Year” twice. If Betty had one passion it was her love of butterflies, she collected anything with butterflies. Betty loved attending her church, Pasadena First Baptist, and the visitations that she received from her deacons and pastors after she could no longer attend church services every week.
Betty is survived by her children, Doyle Jr (Peggy), David (Sharon) and Beth Council as well as her grandchildren Sonny, Jared, Mark, Dustin, Danielle, Drew, Natica, and Megan as well as several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
There is not a memorial service scheduled for Betty at this time. At a later date there will be a Celebration of Life gathering scheduled in Pasadena, TX to share our memories of Betty’s 92 years of wonderous life. Betty will be missed and never far from our hearts and thoughts.
