Barbara Lee Lyon was 90 years of age when she went to be with our heavenly father on August 16, 2023. She was born in Bloomington, Indiana to Bert and Irene Wood. She was the second of three sisters, Virginia Cox and Rosetta McKee, both of Bloomington, Indiana- that preceded her in death.
After graduation from high school she married Don Lyon and they gave birth to their only child, Danny Lyon. Soon after, they moved to Pasadena, Texas.
She became a hairdresser and worked in her own shop for several years before retiring and moving back to Bloomington with her husband, where she was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church of Bloomington. She made one last move back to Texas, lovingly living at Parsons House La Porte.
After retiring she discovered that she inherited many of the arts and crafts skills of her mother’s. She became a very good artist, painting beautiful pictures. She also mastered quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Barbara also enjoyed playing her organ at home, singing in the church choir, “Sweet Adoline’s”, along with playing her records and watching TV at nights.
Barbara is survived by her son Danny Lyon and his wife Kathy of Deer Park, Texas; grandchildren Corey Lyon and wife Kristen; Heather Tupa and husband Jeremy; great-grandchildren Rylan, Raylee and Raegan Tupa; and Jaxon and River Lyon- all of Deer Park, Texas.
Family and friends will gather at 11:00 AM Friday, September 8th at First Baptist Church of Pasadena for a “Celebration of Life” memorial service.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.pasadenafuneralchapel.com for the Lyon family.
