Barbara Ann Guthrie

Barbara Ann Guthrie, 80, of Santa Fe, TX, passed away on February 13, 2023. She was born in Jackson, TN, on March 8, 1942 to Owen K. and Ruth Ann Eierdam. She was married to Covin Guthrie for 60 years. Barbara attended San Jacinto College for Interior Design and College of the Mainland where she studied art and pottery where she had several very successful showings of her art pieces. She was a member of numerous organizations including the Hi Neighbor Club, Order of the Eastern Stars, The Red Hat Society, numerous art leagues and Big Brothers- Big Sisters Organization. Her hobbies included dancing, painting, gardening, vacation bible school, arts & crafts, and helping at Arcadia Christian Church. Barbara was an avid shopper and hosted parties for friends and family. She also enjoyed watching the Houston Astros play.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen K. and Ruth Ann Eierdam and her brother Larry. Barbara is survived by her husband Covin, son Kevin and wife Natalie, daughter Theresa and wife Marlo, granddaughters Heather, Alyssa, Kayla and Kirsten, great granddaughters McKenna, Chloe, Leira and Sophie, Sister Rae Ann, brothers Kenneth and Terry, numerous nieces and nephews and beloved cat Calie.

Barbara was a very dedicated wife to her soulmate Covin and was a great mother to Kevin and Theresa. She tried to rescue every animal that she possibly could and even carried food in her car just to feed them if they were hungry. She sent a card for every occasion; whether it was your birthday, 4th July, Christmas, Halloween or just because she was thinking of you. Any chance Barbara could she would be listening to either Dolly Parton or Elvis Presley. She enjoyed watching John Wayne, old western movies and the Golden Girls anytime they were on TV. Barbara never met a stranger and would help anyone in their time of need.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org to help with research for a cure.
