Alexander Ray Cervantes, 23, passed away December 14, 2016. He was born March 4, 1993 in Houston TX, the son of Thomas Cervantes and Cynthia Wallace. He attended La Porte High School where he played Varsity football. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army.
He graduated basic training at Fort Jackson South Carolina. This is where he earned his Army Service Ribbon and his National Defense Service Medal. He attended AIT (advanced individual training) in Fort Lee Virginia. He left AIT and went to Airborne school at Fort Benning Georgia. He graduated Airborne School March 14 2013, where he earned his wings and parachutist badge. He was sent to his duty station at Fort Bragg North Carolina and he was placed in the Fourth Brigade Division. After a year, he was transitioned to First Brigade, 2-2501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. He attended two rotations at Fort Polk Louisiana, where he earned his Army Achievement Medal for an outstanding and exceptional completion of fulfilling his duty in leading soldiers under him. September 2015, he joined his company to NATO training in Germany. Around the same time he reached his three years of service where he earned his Good Conduct Medal. He honorably discharged February 2016.
Specialist Cervantes has honorably served his time as an active duty soldier and lived up to the seven army values. Loyalty, duty, respect, self-less service, honor, integrity and personal courage, which made him a great leader and someone who was looked up to by his peers.
He always set the example by being proficient on technical and tactical competence, unwavering devotion to duty, and was vital to the unit’s success. His achievements were kept with the finest traditions of military service and reflected great credit upon him, his unit, his brigade, the 82nd Airborne Division, and the United States Army.
Alexander is survived by his son Aric Ray Cervantes, who he loved unconditionally, mother Cynthia father Thomas, sisters Brionne and Salina, brother Dylan, step sister Brooke and step brother Nathan. He also leaves his Grandmother Leonarda, uncles Danny, Rick, John, and Billy. Also survived by his aunts Dorothy, Monique, Danielle, and Maria. He is also survived by his cousins Daniel, David, Victoria, Gabriel, Christian, and Billy. Alexander has countless friends across the nation and was loved by so many.
Visitation will begin at 1pm on Tuesday, December 20th, followed by a 2pm Funeral Service at Grand View Funeral Home, interment after all services at Grand View Memorial Park.
