Albert Garcia, Jr., 71, passed away on September 4, 2024. Albert was born on August 29,1953, in Baytown, Texas to Albert Garcia, Sr. and Angelina Rojas. Albert was diagnosed with hearing loss as a small child and overcame many obstacles before ultimately graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School. As a young adult, Albert embraced hearing loss as an essential part of his identity. He became deeply involved in the social life of the deaf community, attending numerous deaf and hard-of-hearing events where he enjoyed meeting new members and communicating with sign language.
Albert was a lifelong resident of Pasadena, Texas and a proud supporter of Houston sports teams. He had a passion for football and baseball with a deep love for the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. Albert never missed a game, cheering players on from home with the same enthusiasm as if he were sitting in the stands. He celebrated every victory as if he were part of the team. Albert also had a passion for fishing and spent much of his life by the water, finding peace in the quiet moments between the cast and the catch. He was never happier than when sharing his love of deep-sea fishing with others. The ocean was the place where Albert found peace, connection, and joy.
Albert began his professional career as a jeweler where he crafted beautiful pieces of art that were treasured by many. He met the love of his life, Linda Turpin while working at a jewelry store and they soon married and started a family. He became a familiar and friendly face to those along his route, always delivering a smile and sharing a recent sports update. In the final chapter of Albert’s professional career, he worked a variety of positions at Michael E. DeBakey Department of Veterans Affairs. Albert took tremendous pride in supporting Veterans and retired after 25 years of service at the VA. Albert was forever grateful for the friends and relationships he developed there.
